2010 MusicFest Entertainers
Old-Time Country Music is New Again...in 2010!
The 7th annual Miles of Memories Country MusicFest & RV Rally  presents three full days of traditional country music in a variety of forms…concerts, theme shows, gospel sings, patriotic get-togethers, plus seminars and worksh
ops.
It all happens Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 9, 10 & 11 at the Adams County Fairgrounds in Hastings, Nebraska.
Here are some of the entertainers that you'll be enjoying at this yea
r's event!

George Hamilton IV

We're excited to have a true country music legend join us at the MusicFest this year.  George Hamilton IV, of "Abilene" and "Break My Mind" fame, will be with us all three days, joining in the fun and music of this annual event.
Proclaimed the International Ambassador of Country Music, thanks to his performances around the world during the 1970s, George began his career in the late '50s not as a country artist but as a teen-oriented pop star.  After his first hit, "A Rose and a Baby Ruth," hit number six on the pop charts in 1956, he toured with Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers.  Hamilton moved to the country charts by 1959, where nine of his hits spent time in the Top ten, including his number one, "Abilene."
He dabbled in folk music during the mid-60s, recording the songs of Gordon Lightfoot; both "Steel Rail Blues" and "Early Morning Rain" hit the country Top 15 during 1966, and he went on to record more Lightfoot songs than any other artist.  "Urge for Going" (written by another folkie, Joni Mitchell) hit number seven in 1967 and "Break My Mind" reached number six later in the year.
He took country music around the world during the '70s.  Besides more than ten tours of Great Britain and several BBC-TV productions, he hosted the Gospel Celebration and the International Country Festival, both in England.  He was the first country artist to perform behind the Iron Curtain, where he lectured about country music as well as playing shows.  He also toured Africa, the Orient, New Zealand, Australia and even the Middle East during the late '70s.
In recent years he has toured domestically and given more emphasis to his country and gospel music, and appears on the Grand Ol' Opry regularly when not off to Europe and points beyond.
We're so glad that the legendary George Hamilton IV is including the  Miles of Memories Country MusicFest in his 2010 tour and look forward to spending time with him.

Roger Tibbs

New Zealand’s top country singer brings his mellow, captivating style to our Miles of Memories MusicFest in 2010!.  As a regular performer on New Zealand’s country TV series “That’s Country,” Roger has shared the stage with such American country music notables as Johnny Russell, Connie Smith and Emmylou Harris. He was invited to perform at the Calgary Stampede in 2008 for their “Western Heritage Day” before an audience of 10,000 music lovers.
Roger’s shows are a mix of easy listening songs, country selections and cowboy tunes, with shows put together according to the wishes of event producers. A cross between Slim Whitman, Daniel O’Donnell, and the best American country singers, Roger has his own easy-going style, sliding effortlessly between a strong country rocker like “Guitars, Cadilacs,” country-pop songs like “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” a cowboy tune like “Happy Go Lucky Cowhand” and traditional country standards like “Blackboard of My Heart” or “Cattle Call.” And, if we coax him a bit, he’ll do a traditional New Zealand ditty or two. It’s a mix that keeps his audiences captivated and wanting more.

Margie LeBlanc
This little lady from southeast Texas is a very pleasant veteran performer with a warm stage presence that really connects with her audiences and a sound that makes folks sit up and take notice.
Margie is blessed with a voice that can handle almost any type of music, but her heart is country.  You might call her style a blend of the sounds of Connie Smith, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette and Brenda Lee.  Once you've heard her, you'll never forget Miss Margie LeBlanc!

Andy Glandt
For 30 years now Andy and his banjo have toured around the world playing his shows that blend original tunes with oldtime and folk music from America, Australia, Germany and other European countries.  When this German musician is on stage, you can see the fun he has playing his music while interacting with the audience.  Eberhard Finke, editor of the German magazine "Bluegrass Buhne" states: "No other banjo picker in the country is as resourceful as Andy Glandt."  You'll realize that when you seem him using several banjo styles and different tunings.
He's a singer-songwriter, a banjoist and and a first-class entertainer.  You'll love his performances at the 2010 Miles of Memories Country MusicFest!

Country Current
The United States Navy's  "Country Current" country-bluegrass group, the Navy's premier country music ensemble, will be joining us at the 2010 MusicFest as a fill-in act, thanks to a brief opening in their performance schedule. They'll be featured on the Main Stage at 5 p.m. on Friday. The seven-member group was formed in 1973 and quickly established itself in all aspects of country and bluegrass music.
Touring the country each year in support of Navy recruiting, "Country Current" has performed with such artists as Boots Randolph, Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill and David Ball. Country Current performed at the "Branson Cares–Help Start the Healing" tribute to the citizens of Oklahoma City and at the Glen Campbell Goodtime Theatre in Branson, Mo., on Memorial Day in 1995. Other credits include the Grand Ole Opry, Wheeling Jamboree and the Academy of Country Music Awards show.
We're excited to have this prestigious group join us for our 7th annual event and guarantee that you'll enjoy their spirited renditions of country, bluegrass and patriotic tunes.

Curt Shoemaker
The "Man of Steel," Curt Shoemaker has been performing at the Miles of Memories MusicFest since its beginning. It's his beautiful steel guitar music that you hear when you dance to our Miles of Memories Band and as he backs up some of our vocalists.
Curt is a leader in country music in the Midwest, winning prizes with his steel guitar playing and now he's making a name for himself as a mentor for young entertainers who want to get into country music performance. He's even been named to the Kansas Steel Guitar Hall of Fame!
Once again, we welcome Crazy Curt back to the MusicFest and can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve for us this year!

Stranger Creek
Passionate about their music, The Stranger Creek Band is comprised of six regulars and and a few periodic pop-in guests.
     Garry and Mary Bichelmeyer
founded the band. He’s an amateur archeologist and song writer, from Kansas City’s well-known meat business family. He and Buffalo Bill Cody are the only persons to have a contract to butcher buffalo for the U.S. Army. Mary runs a title company when she’s not playing bass for the band and is a singer in her own right.
Larry Dean, of De Soto, Kansas, does guitar, vocals, and plays a wild banjo. Gordon Riley of Overland Park, Kansas, plays lead guitar and occasionally a little Dobro.
John Malone, also of Overland Park, is the drummer, and earned his stripes playing with various dance and blues bands. Marvin Bredemeier, of Kansas City, Missouri, rounds out the Stranger Creek sound with fiddle.

Buck (The Big Man) Helton
"He's a rootin', tootin', six-gun shootin', yodeling cowhand!"  These lyrics from a Wylie Gustafson song describe Buck Helton to a "T."  Singer, songwriter, yodeler, award-winning cowboy poet, MC, voice-over artist and Western actor.  He's done 'em all!  Buck brings the music, history and romance of the West to life in his performances in a way that endears him to fans of traditional music. With the great tunes of Roy, Gene, Tex and Rex added to the mix for flavor, Buck will share his strong country and cowboy music with MusicFest audiences in a performance you'll never forget. Welcome back, Buck!

Paul Belanger
He's been a finalist on "America's Got Talent," an award-winning yodeler, a Western and country music ambassador...and he's still and always will be a talented entertainer!  Paul Belanger is joining us for the first time this year and we couldn't be happier!  A songwriter, a yodeler of the highest quality and what a singer!....that's Paul Belanger who comes to us from beautiful New Hampshire, where he's known as the "Old Man of the Mountain."

Elton Flodman
Equally at home with country, gospel and old-time rock 'n' roll, Elton is a favorite of festival and concert audiences across the Midwest... and you'll love his strong, sweet voice and the beautiful songs he sings as well! Also a songwriter, he has promoted live music via his FlodFest event for the past 12 years.  Although he's been able to stop in at the MusicFest in years past, this year we're happy to announce that he'll be spending the entire event with us, so you won't miss out, no matter which day or days you attend.  You're gonna love Elton Flodman!

Charley Groth
CHARLEY GROTH tours the world with his music.  He's alifetime, full time professional musician and entertainer--a strong singer and a fine player of guitar, piano, mandolin, Dobro, Autoharp, and a variety of other instruments.  At country festivals in the USA, Europe, the South Pacific, he specializes in the real thing: all-acoustic music featuring lots of hot picking and highlighting the work of the great ones like Hank Thompson, Bob Wills, Jimmie Rodgers, the Carter Family, Hank Williams, Cindy Walker, Floyd Cramer, Eddie Arnold, and many more.  Check out Charley's website at http://www.cgmusicman.com.
